Ah, springtime. Florida is beautiful in the spring, as the sun brings up all of the new blooms and wakes up the baby bunnies.
Springtime is when the weather in Florida starts to really warm up. This is the first of the year where you’ll need to grab your sunscreen before you go out.
You can expect an average temperature of around 74 degrees in April. May warms up a bit with an average of 82.
Just watch out for those daily showers. Unlike other places, though, when it rains in Florida it doesn’t ruin your whole day. You can plan that the rain will last about 10 minutes and then the sun will be right back out. There’s never a need for an umbrella in this sunshine state.
After all, April showers bring May flowers. Be sure to check out the special event coming up, Burning Up the Beaches.
“Here comes the sun do-do-do-do.”
If you’re fair skin and sensitive, make sure you load up on the sunscreen. Nothing ruins a vacation more than a blistering burn on half of your body. The good news is that if you forgot your sunscreen you can find it in pretty much every corner store, available in everything from 10 SPF to 100 SPF.
Once you’ve loaded up on the sunscreen, summer is the perfect time to hit the beaches. The sun had plenty of time to heat up the gulf, so no freezing water here. You can expect an average ocean temperature of 86 degrees.
Don’t forget your sunglasses!
June brings in the summertime heat with an average of 87 degrees. July and August hold a heavy 89 degrees for the remainder of the season. Now, those don’t have to be scary numbers. Nothing feels better than a cannonball into the cool ocean while the sun beats down on you.
During the summertime, you can expect a few afternoon showers, but less than often than in the springtime.
Fall in Florida is arguably one of the best seasons.
Fall is like having the best of all worlds, and every season smooshed into one (without the pollen that comes with springtime).
September ends the summer and starts the fall, so it brings the high summer temperatures and ends with cooler fall weather.
Fall time is when the locals start to shed their tank tops, shorts, and flip-flops. While you will still see this attire throughout the year in Florida, you’ll start to see more long pants and boots come out.
You can expect a bit of relief from the summer sun in September, with an average temperature of 86 degrees. October brings us down to around 79 degrees and November breaks the heat with an average of 70 degrees.
You won’t have to worry about too much rain during this time, other than typical season change showers.
Winter in Florida can sometimes be a bit unpredictable.
Sometimes it stays pretty warm until February, and sometimes we see small snow flurries.
If you’re not a big fan of sharing the beach with 2000 other tourists, winter is a great time to visit. Most people don’t consider the beach over the winter time, which can benefit you.
The ocean water will be a bit nippy, but we promise the sun will keep you warm. Not only will the beaches be less crowded, but the prices will be lower as well.
Winter does cool us off, but we definitely don’t get a white Christmas everywhere. December brings an average of 62 degrees. January and February hold an average between 61 – 63 degrees. March gets us ready for springtime again with a warmer average of 68 degrees.
Florida doesn’t experience too much rain in the winter time, so you won’t have to deal with any freezing humidity.
How do those sunny beaches sound right about now? No matter which season you choose for your FL vacation, you’ll be able to expect an average high of 76 and an average low of 61 degrees throughout the year.
Knowing the Destin Florida weather averages and events is a great way to help you decide the best time to vacation in this sunny spot.
